Marathon Asset Management is a market and cycle-tested global alternative credit manager founded in 1998 by Bruce Richards (Chief Executive Officer) and Louis Hanover (Chief Investment Officer). The firm manages approximately $22 billion in assets under management across the corporate, real estate, structured credit and asset-based credit markets.  Marathon’s team is fully integrated to capitalize on credit opportunities globally in both the public and private credit markets, with its headquarters in New York and offices in London, Tokyo, Luxembourg, Miami and Los Angeles.

 

The Portfolio Management hire will work closely with the origination and underwriting teams to monitor and report on private credit loans. The private credit portfolio includes assets originated by the Direct Lending team, which provides private equity with financing solutions for performing credits, and the Opportunistic Credit team, which specializes in providing bespoke capital solutions to companies in transition. The teams are seeking a candidate to join the New York team with the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

• Manage the private credit transactions originated and closed by the Opportunistic and Direct Lending teams
• Work closely with the originations teams to create a smooth transition with sponsors, borrowers and administrative agents prior to and post closing
• Speak directly with borrowers and sponsors regularly to receive updates on borrowers’ performance
• Spread financial results of borrowers as they report and provide updates internally on financial reports
• Create monthly dashboard report, summarizing key metrics for each borrower and for the portfolio
• Create and manage monthly portfolio meeting with a focus on discussing any borrowers that are performing below our expectations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from top tier university
• 10+ years of experience required
• Leveraged finance background required
• Demonstrated strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and unquestionable integrity
• Highly motivated self-starter who is coachable; willing to embrace a collaborative firm culture
• Possess superb written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
• Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills
• Analytically strong and intellectually inquisitive

 

 

The average salary for this role $150,000-$250,000 in base pay and is exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, location, skills, training, certifications and education, and in addition we will also consider internal equity and market data. We do not anticipate that candidates hired will begin at the top of the range however, from time to time, it may occur on a case by case basis.
